Summit Life Outreach Center & The Evergreen Association v. Letitia James

On behalf of New York pregnancy help organizations Summit Life Outreach Center and The Evergreen Association, Thomas More Society is suing Attorney General James in federal court for unconstitutionally chilling the speech of pregnancy help organizations.

On August 7, 2024, Thomas More Society attorneys filed a federal lawsuit clearly outlining how Attorney General James demonstrates obvious bias towards pregnancy help organizations, like Summit and Evergreen. Moreover, her recent spate of ruinous threats and baseless prosecution of New York’s life-affirming ministries infringes on their right to speak freely about Abortion Pill Reversal (APR), which is backed by both scientific and real-life evidence.

Summit and Evergreen desire to share information about the lifesaving option of APR in the hopes that any woman who regrets her in-progress chemical abortion will be able to save her baby. However, out of fear of harassment and ruinous legal action from Attorney General James, Summit and Evergreen have both limited and avoided altogether the promotion of APR on their social media platforms and websites.

New York Attorney General Letitia James has a track record of abortion extremism and censoring pro-life speech, currying favor with the abortion industry by harassing pregnancy help organizations with threats and litigation. With her baseless prosecution of pregnancy help organizations who share information about the lifesaving APR treatment, she seeks to deny women the choice to save their babies after taking the first abortion pill.

In a related state court case, Letitia James v. Heartbeat & CompassCare, Thomas More Society attorneys are directly combatting in New York state court Attorney General James’ baseless prosecutions—representing Heartbeat International and other pregnancy help organizations.

Many women discover APR when they desperately turn to the internet for answers after taking the first abortion pill. Since the option of APR was made available to women, thousands of preborn babies have been saved. Attorney General James is working to deprive women of this option, especially when she seeks to censor the ability of pregnancy help organizations to promote access to APR services on the internet and social media.
